Program Notes: Abscission tells the story of a once-great tree losing it's beautiful leaves as it's life slowly fades away, leaving only bark behind in its final moments. The juxtaposition of grandiose and timid themes create this sense of oscillation throughout the piece, eventually concluding with one final and triumphant stand as the final leaf floats to the ground.
