To Be Forgotten (2026):

Program Notes: "The fear of being forgotten is a feeling that has plagued me my entire life and influenced many of my decisions. Whether it be something as grand as the world forgetting about me years after I'm gone, or something as small as an old acquaintance forgetting me after a few years, I've always had this innate fear of being forgotten or misremembered in a way that destroys my character. To Be Forgotten is meant to take the listener through the experience of having someone's legacy be twisted and changed, eventually fading away into nothingness as they are forgotten entirely. The flute solo at the beginning is meant to be a representation of the life that was actually lived, and the whispering heard from the orchestra is meant to resemble the telephone effect that comes from people passing down stories, changing them slightly each time. At the end, the flautist is trying to remember how to play the solo, but eventually gives up as the final spoken reference to this memory fades away into the wind."
